Not much is known about Skipper's early life, though when he and his brothers Kowalski and Rico were young, Skipper decides to save a seemingly doomed penguin egg. They are successful, and the egg hatches into Private, although they eventually sail away on a detached iceberg. Skipper slaps Kowalski for proclaiming their impending doom and declares to Private that they are now his family.
