“I want to show the world a different side of Wukong,” I was saying this to myself one afternoon, sitting in front of my drawing tablet. The world already knew the fierce, unstoppable Sun Wukong, but I dreamed of capturing his essence before he became the mighty king. What if, I wondered, Wukong wasn’t always this invincible?
